Babak Abai is Associate Professor of Surgery at the Sidney Kimmel Medial School of Thomas Jefferson University and a faculty of the Division of Vascular Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. He is the Program Director of the Vascular Surgery Fellowship and Associate Program Director of Vascular Surgery Residency.
His clinical expertise includes open and endovascular aortic surgery, treatment of complex aortic dissections, open and endovascular treatment of carotid disease, treatment of aortoiliac occlusive disease and limb preservation. He has special interests in treating vascular disease using minimally invasive endovascular techniques. His current projects include research relating to aortic pathologies including dissection, aneurysms as well as occlusive disease. He has been involved in education projects involving simulation in the 3D design laboratory.
