Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center
Dora Zoe Zatyko, M.D. is a PhD candidate and completed 3 years of integrated vascular surgery residency training at Semmelweis University Heart and Vascular Centre in Budapest, Hungary. She is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center working under the mentorship of Dr. Alan B. Lumsden. Her work focuses on advancing innovation in vascular and cardiovascular surgery through clinical research, advanced imaging, and robotics.
Her training has taken her across Europe and the United States, allowing her to develop a broad perspective on vascular surgery through diverse clinical, academic, and research environments. Dr. Zatyko received her medical degree from Semmelweis University, where she continued her postgraduate training in vascular surgery and began her PhD research focusing on one of the field's most pressing issues: vascular grafts and graft infections.
Dr. Zatyko’s research interests are broad in vascular surgery but currently mainly focused on aortic dissection, 4D flow MRI, dynamic magnetic resonance angiography, robotic-assisted vascular surgery, and digital surgery analytics. Her work explores how advanced imaging, surgical robotics, and data-driven technologies can improve procedural planning, technical precision, and long-term outcomes for patients with complex vascular disease.
Dr. Zatyko is committed to building a career as an academic vascular surgeon, combining high-quality patient care with meaningful research, surgical innovation, and mentorship. Her long-term goal is to contribute to the evolution of vascular surgery by bridging clinical excellence, advanced imaging, and next-generation surgical technology.
