Dr. Dalman serves as the Walter C. and Elsa R Chidester Professor of Surgery and Division Chief Emeritus of Vascular Surgery at Stanford University. He served as Chief of Stanford Vascular Surgery from 2005 to 2021. He is also the Associate Dean for Market Development, and Co-Director of the Cardiovascular Service Line and Cardiovascular Research Institutes at Stanford Medicine.
A current member of the Vascular Surgery Board of the American Board of Surgery, he previously served on the Residency Review Committee for Surgery at the ACGME. He founded the Stanford Vascular Integrated Residency Program in 2008, and served as Program Director for the Vascular Residency and Fellowship programs from 2005 to 2011.
Dr. Dalman clinical and research interests are focused on the pathophysiology and treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysm disease. In addition to extensive experience with open and endovascular aortic aneurysm repairs during 29 years in practice, he has published more than 200 peer-reviewed publications primarily on this topic. His research efforts have been continously funded by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (as PI- or Co-PI) since 1999.
A member of the Society for Vascular Surgery since 1998, Dalman has served on the Membership Committee (Chair 2001), Research and Education Committee, Research Council (Chair 2008-2009), Publications Committee, Program Committee (Vice Chair 2013, Chair 2014-2017), Document Committee, Policital Action and Foundation Development Committees. He served as the 75th SVS President in 2020-2021.
