Chief Resident
Centro Médico Nacional 20 de Noviembre
Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico
Dr. Carlo Angello Sánchez-Montaño is a final-year resident in Vascular Surgery at Centro Médico Nacional 20 de Noviembre (ISSSTE–UNAM) in Mexico City, one of Mexico’s highest-volume tertiary referral centers for complex vascular disease. He previously served as Chief of the Vascular Surgery Service residents and currently serves as Chief Resident representing all residency programs within the institution, playing an active role in clinical leadership, academic coordination, and resident education.
His clinical interests center on the open and endovascular management of complex arterial and venous disease, with particular emphasis on complex aortic pathology, advanced endovascular aortic repair, central venous interventions, vascular malformations, hemodialysis vascular access, and limb preservation. Training in a high-acuity public referral center has provided extensive exposure to complex aortic and peripheral vascular pathology, fostering strong interest in hybrid and advanced endovascular strategies for challenging vascular disease.
Originally from Poza Rica, Veracruz, Dr. Sánchez-Montaño earned his medical degree and a Master’s in Health Institutions Management from Universidad Anáhuac. He maintains an active academic profile with research interests in endovascular innovation and outcomes in complex vascular interventions, and has presented his work at national and international vascular meetings.
In 2023, he received the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) General Surgery Resident Travel Scholarship and was featured in the “Voices of Vascular – Hispanic Heritage Month” initiative recognizing emerging leaders in vascular surgery.
He will complete clinical rotations in the United States this year and is actively pursuing a vascular surgery fellowship focused on complex aortic and advanced endovascular interventions.
