Tana Lynn Repella was part of the Medical Scholars Program at the University of Illinois where she obtained her MD as well as her PhD in the Department of Microbiology. She subsequently moved to Portland, Oregon where she completed general surgery residency at Oregon Health & Science University and stayed to complete a fellowship in vascular surgery. Upon graduation she accepted a position at the University of Kentucky and serves as an attending surgeon at University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital as well as the Lexington VA Health Care System. Since joining the faculty at the University of Kentucky Medical School she has taken an interest in educational programming for all levels of learners including medical students, residents, and fellows. She serves as the program director for the vascular surgery fellowship. She is involved in the general surgery residency engaging in resident education, serving on the Surgical Wellness Committee as a faculty advisor to the junior surgery residents, and evaluating residents as a member of the Clinical Competency Committee. She serves as an advisor for the medical school learning communities providing advising for professional development and student success and as the course director for the medical school research concentration.
