His journey has taken him through five countries across three continents, where he has had the privilege to learn from leading experts in diverse clinical and research environments.
A native of Ghana, he received his initial medical training from the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah University in Fez, Morocco, followed by a clinical fellowship in Avignon, France and an Aortic Research Fellowship at the Ludwig Maximillian University Hospital in Munich, Germany.
Bright Benfor also holds a postgraduate diploma in Endovascular Therapeutics from the Paris XII University in France, as well as a postgraduate qualification in Clinical Research and Epidemiology from the Lorraine University in Nancy, France. His research interests are broad in vascular surgery but currently mainly focused on dialysis access surgery and pulmonary embolism. Bright is also involved in translational research to evaluate endovascular devices in amputated limbs, and has been involved in several cadaveric experiments to investigate the histological changes to the vessel wall following endovascular interventions.
Dr. Benfor is focused on leveraging his extensive clinical and research training to establish a successful career as an academic vascular surgeon, caring for patients with vascular diseases, training the younger generation, and advancing the science through impactful research.
