Iris H. Liu, MD is an Integrated Vascular Surgery Resident (PGY-5, Research Year 2) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She attended Dartmouth College for her undergraduate degree and UCSF for medical school.
Her research centers around vascular calcification and chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI), with a particular emphasis on medial arterial calcification (MAC) and its pathogenic drivers. In her dedicated research years, she has been focused on the translational investigation of cardiometabolic disease (diabetes, renal insufficiency) and its impact on MAC via Klotho regulation of vascular smooth muscle cell phenotype. She has been funded by the NHLBI NRSA F32 Postdoctoral Fellowship Award, the American Heart Association Postdoctoral Fellowship Award, and the NIDDK Diabetic Foot Consortium in support of her research.
