Dr. Fernando Fleischman is co-director of comprehensive aortic center at USC, and he is associate program director for Cardiac surgery residency program at Keck school of medicine. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina he was raised in Los Angeles. He went to UCLA as an undergraduate, graduating with a Bachelors in Biology, as well as a Bachelors in History. He then went to Puerto Rico where he did his Medical training graduating Magna Cum Laude. He then did his Surgical training in Newark New Jersey at UMDNJ, followed by cardiothoracic training at USC bringing him back to Los Angeles. He joined the faculty at USC and currently serves as associate program director of cardiac surgery. His focus is on aortic disease and surgical education, serving on the editorial board of Joint Council of Thoracic surgery, as well as the STS. Dr. Fleischman is a member of the STS and Western Thoracic, as is serving on the STS taskforce for education.
