Adam Tanious, MD, MBA, MMSc is an Associate Professor in the Division of Vascular Surgery at MUSC. He currently serves as the Medical Director of Vascular-Dialysis Access at MUSC Charleston. Dr. Tanious’ clinical interests include the treatment of patients with aortic, carotid, peripheral arterial, and venous disease in addition to patients with End Stage Renal Disease. He likewise has a particular interest in multidisciplinary collaboration for complex cases where vascular mobilization and/or reconstruction is anticipated. His research interests revolve around innovation in surgery as well as surgical education.
Since Joining MUSC, Dr. Tanious has also earned his MBA and created/leads the Vascular Innovation Group efforts focused on developing new technologies in the field of vascular surgery.
He joined MUSC after completing his Vascular Surgery Integrated Residency + 2 years of dedicated research at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), where he served as Chief Resident. Prior to MGH, he completed a Master of Medical Science in Clinical & Translational Research and his first 3 clinical years of Vascular Surgery Integrated Residency + 1 year of dedicated research at the University of South Florida. He earned his MD from Michigan State University.
He holds 1 patent and has submitted provisional patents for 2 other devices he hopes to bring to market to help the vascular patient population. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as a Fellow of the Society for Vascular Surgery.
