Chris Owen is an educator and Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with more than 15 years of experience caring for patients with vascular disease in inpatient, outpatient, procedural, and operative settings. Her clinical background includes vascular surgery and vascular interventional radiology, as well as more than 20 years of nursing experience in surgical critical care at a tertiary care Level I trauma center.
She is a past president of the Society for Vascular Nursing and recipient of the Jeanne E. Doyle Award. Chris is a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery, where she serves as co-chair of the newly created Advanced Practice Provider Section, and is also a member of the Society for Vascular Medicine APP Council and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. She has contributed to vascular education through national lectures, conference planning, book chapter review, practice guideline development, and APP-focused educational initiatives.
Chris currently leads a team of instructional designers and is passionate about innovative education, simulation-based learning, and interprofessional collaboration. She has received a Medal of Merit for her work in emergency preparedness education and simulation integration and has earned national recognition for her leadership in injury prevention and child passenger safety advocacy. Throughout her career, she has focused on bringing teams together to advance clinician education, APP practice, and patient care.
