Dr. Alaska Pendleton is an academic vascular surgeon and Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center. They completed their vascular surgery residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and earned their MD from Harvard Medical School and MPH from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where they concentrated on Clinical Effectiveness and Women, Gender, and Health.
Dr. Pendleton’s work focuses on social justice, health equity, and community-engaged care delivery. They serve as Community Engagement and Health Outcomes Assistant Vice Chair for the University of Rochester Department of Surgery and Assistant Program Director for the Integrated Vascular Surgery Residency. They lead “Circulate and Screen,” a community-based initiative addressing peripheral arterial disease in Rochester through education, screening, and linkage to care in partnership with community ambassadors. Dr. Pendleton is committed to advancing workplace and healthcare equity through mentorship, advocacy, and research focused on gender discrimination, diversity in surgical training, and expanding access to high-quality care for historically underserved communities.
