Mark Valentine is a seasoned healthcare executive with more than 25 years of progressive leadership in cardiac and vascular programs across nationally recognized cardiovascular institutions. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Allied Medicine from The Ohio State University and an MBA in Health Care Administration from Baker College.
Since 2006, Valentine has led the growth of advanced cardiovascular services at Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital. In 2024, he oversaw the integration of Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital and Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital, forming the nation’s largest cardiovascular program. The system now includes seven hospitals and The Heart Hospital Medical Group, expanding access and strengthening clinical integration for specialized cardiovascular care across North Texas.
Under Valentine’s leadership, Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital – Plano earned recognition as one of the #1 Top Teaching Hospital with a Cardiovascular Residency Program by Modern Healthcare Powered by Premier and ranked among the Top 50 nationally in Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery by U.S. News & World Report® for eight consecutive years. Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas achieved U.S. News & World Report® “High Performing” status, Magnet® recognition for nursing excellence, and Leapfrog Top Teaching Hospital honors.
The system features one of the nation’s largest destination LVAD programs. The Plano hospital is one of the top cardiac surgery programs in the US, maintaining 3-star ratings in all 6 categories from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons®.
