Biography
Raghu Motaganahalli, MD, is a Professor of Surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine and an Attending Vascular Surgeon at IU Health Methodist Hospital, where he serves as Division Chief of Vascular Surgery. He has led vascular surgery training programs at Indiana University as Program Director since 2012
Dr. Motaganahalli received his medical degree and completed his general surgery residency in India, followed by training at Saint Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.
Dr. Motaganahalli holds distinguished fellowship distinction in the Society for Vascular Surgery , the American College of Surgeons, and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is a member of the American Surgical Association and an Associate Member of the Academy of Master Surgeon Educators.
He is a past President of the Midwestern Vascular Surgical Society (2021–2022) and the Indiana State Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. He currently serves on the Society for Vascular Surgery Postgraduate Education Committee and Strategic Board, as a Council Member of the American Board of Surgery, and as a Director on the Vascular Surgery Board.
Dr. Motaganahalli has served as Principal Investigator on more than 40 clinical trials in vascular surgery and as the U.S. National Principal Investigator for the DW-MRI Transcarotid Revascularization trial. He has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed manuscripts, book chapters, and abstracts. He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Vascular Surgery, Annals of Vascular Surgery, and Vascular and Endovascular Surgery.
