Dr. Kathleen Gibson is a board-certified vascular surgeon and Professor of Vascular Surgery at the University of Washington in Seattle. She graduated with highest honors from the University of Washington School of Medicine, where she also completed her general surgery residency and vascular surgery fellowship, following an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering.
Dr. Gibson is an internationally recognized leader in venous and lymphatic disease. She serves on the Board of the VIVA Foundation and is Past President of the American Vein and Lymphatic Society. She is a distinguished member of the American Venous Forum and a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery.
Her clinical and research interests focus on the treatment of superficial and deep venous disease, including pelvic venous disorders and chronic venous obstruction. In her academic role, she is actively involved in mentoring trainees and advancing clinical research in venous interventions. She has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and has served as an investigator in more than 40 clinical trials. Dr. Gibson is a frequent invited speaker at major vascular meetings across North and South America, Europe, and Asia.
