Dr. Scher is currently Professor of Surgery, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Attending Vascular Surgeon, Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, NY. He received his MD degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1973. He completed his internship and residency in General Surgery at the Medical College of Virginia and his vascular fellowship at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. He was Chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery at North Shore University Hospital from 1990-2004. He is a member of numerous professional societies including the American College of Surgeons, the Society for Vascular Surgery, the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, the Eastern Vascular Society, the New York Society for Vascular Surgery (Past President) and Vascular Access Society of the Americas (Past VIce President). He has a longstanding interest in hemodialysis access and has lectured extensively on this subject. He is the co-director of the Hemodialysis Access Session at the annual VEITH Vascular Symposium.
