Margaret C. Tracci, M.D., J.D., is board-certified in general and vascular surgery. Her interests include the treatment of aortic and peripheral arterial disease, vascular disorders in athletes, and health policy. After graduating from Stanford University, Dr. Tracci earned a dual MD/JD degree at the University of Illinois before residency and fellowship at the University of Virginia, serving in the United States Senate as a Health Policy Fellow and Health Counsel. Dr. Tracci joined the UVA faculty in 2010 and is a tenured Professor of Surgery and Program Director for the vascular fellowship and elected President of the Clinical Staff. Dr. Tracci is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Society for Vascular Surgery, Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, the Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Society, and is the immediate past president of the Southern Association for Vascular Surgery. She is past president of the Virginia Vascular Society and Virginia Chapter of the ACS. Her service reflects a focus on health policy and advocacy, and she is was recently named Medical Director for Surgeon Engagement for the American College of Surgeons. She has also seeved as Chair of the American College of Surgeons Legislative Committee, a member of the Health Policy and Advocacy Group (HPAG), Chair of the Society for Vascular Surgery Policy and Advocacy Council, and Chair of the Government Relations Committee. Dr. Tracci has been recognized by the University of Virginia School of Medicine’s Academy of Distinguished Educators and received the SVS Presidential Citation for service.
